About Rose  Slyfield

I am a home grown girl – born and raised in the beautiful Kittitas Valley. In 1982, I began substitute teaching at Kittitas and my career destiny was established. Fred, my husband, and I married in 1984. Our sons, Hunter and Spencer, were born in 1989 and 1992. The Slyfields live and breathe outdoor experiences – quite possibly the reason I have never outgrown the “Tom Boy” stage. Favorite downtime activities for me are working out, reading and spending time with family, friends and food – I especially love potlucks.

Mission Statement

I believe a child is not fully educated until he/she is physically educated. My goal as a physical educator is to instill life-long fitness habits by exposing students to a variety of fun, meaningful, and challenging experiences. In addition, I believe it is my responsibility to model the importance of fitness in my daily life. I believe all students are unique and cannot be expected to perform at the same level in physical activities or academics. Certainly, performance expectations should be set high, but at the same time, these expectations must be reasonable and within each individual student’s capability.
