About Bevin  Overland

Welcome to Mrs. O’s Kindergarten! Hi… my name is Bevin Overland- or to the children Mrs. O, let me introduce myself. I will be your child’s Kindergarten Teacher at Kittitas Elementary School! My name is Bevin Overland; better known as Mrs. O, the daughter of Bud and Beth Vogt. I have lived in this beautiful valley my entire life and am proud of my fifth generation status in Kittitas County. I am excited about the approaching school year. I spent the summer helping my mother, a third grade teacher in Ellensburg, teach summer school. I also worked on projects and activities for this upcoming school year. I am honored to be at Kittitas, working with such a dedicated and talented staff. I attended CWU for four years. My decision to double major in both regular education and Special Education was the best, yet I must say challenging, but very rewarding. I’ve been a special education teacher for five years and truly enjoyed that job. I have also completed my Masters focused Literacy and Reading during the 2006-2007 school year. I have had a blast working the past two years as a kindergarten teacher for Kittitas. This will be my third year teaching kinder-kids and I can’t wait to work your child as well! Spending so much time in the classroom, I am very aware of the challenges teaching presents. I want to make a difference in the lives of the children I teach. I want them to achieve at their greatest potential. I want to see my students excited and filled with the zest of learning. I think that diversity is great and that we can all benefit and grow from accepting our differences and embracing our similarities. Kindergartners Rock! I have found my knight in shining armor, Josh Overland. My husband puts up with the extra hours that I spend in the classroom and helps with preparing for activities and themed units. He is also very busy helping our community as a fire fighter/EMT for Kittitas County Fire and Rescue. I am not all work and no play. I love to ride my horse Mac, enjoy aerobics/kick-boxing, hiking and biking with my husband and dog. Of course, I LOVE reading! You can also find me walking with my husband, Josh and our black lab, Layla. I am very family oriented and enjoy eating dinners with my parents, brother, grandparents, and extended family. I think my close relationship with my family has led me to appreciate the benefits of having parents, grandparents, and community members in the classroom. After all, hasn’t a couple of famous people said, “It takes a community to raise a child!” I am the product of my environment, and I couldn’t think of a better place to grow up than in the Kittitas Valley. I’ll assure you that I will make this a very exciting and meaningful year for your child. I am so excited to be working with your child this year. Together, we will make it the best year ever! Feel free to stop by our classroom and visit me at the end of August. I’ll be sending you another letter closer to the beginning of school with more important information. Please feel free to give me a call at home 925-6821 or write me back at 1007 East First Avenue, Ellensburg, WA 98926. (I would love to hear from you.) Yours truly, Mrs Bevin K. Overland
