About Jeff  Schmidt

I am a graduate of Central Washington University and have called the Kittitas Valley home for over 20 years. For nearly 15 years I have lived in Kittitas and have had the privilege of teaching science at the middle school level. My hobbies include hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, boating, camping, hiking, and exploring new places. My favorite thing in life is spending time outdoors with my family. I live and work here because I think the Kittitas Valley is a little slice of heaven. We are all lucky to live in such a beautiful valley and be a part of this great little community.

Mission Statement

The reason we do science is to make our lives better. My goal is to help students to develop their scientific reasoning skills and have a better understanding of the natural world around them. Hopefully this will allow them to make informed and intellegent decisions about things that will effect their lives. By the end of their middle school years students will posess a wide variety of scientific skills and had many real-life experiences. They will be able to observe, measure, identify properties, seek evidence, recognize patterns and cycles, and investigate causality. These shills will all be used to design and conduct controlled experiments such as the 8th grade rocket lab as wells as others. It is my hope that these skills and experiences will provide students with a solid foundation for future success in high school, college, and life in general.
