About Kathryn Pratz
I have always felt fortunate to live in this beautiful valley and to be a part of the teaching staff at Kittitas School. Kittitas School District offers a wide range of educational opportunities and extra-curricular activities for all students. I have been teaching at Kittitas for 12 years and my classes have included General Music, Choir, Reading, Drama, PNW History, Social Studies and Spanish. I received a BA in Music from the University of Texas at Austin, an MA in Music and a B of Ed from Central Washington University. My interest in music and drama led to performances in many plays, musicals and operas. I enjoy sharing these interests with students of every grade level.
My interest in world cultures and languages led to my travels to England, Spain, France, Mexico, Zimbabwe, and China. The world around us is a fascinating place!
Mission Statement
Reading is the gateway to the world. Through reading we acquire knowledge of every other subject. It is my goal that all students acquire the vocabulary and technical skill to enable them to assume responsibility for their own learning in any subject of their choosing.
Music and Drama are expressions of our culture and of our humanity. Education is enriched by participation in all forms of the performing arts; vocal, instrumental, and dramatic.
Every culture strives to pass down to its youth an understanding of their artistic heritage.
