About Jody  Bell

Welcome Parents and Students!

My name is Jody Bell, and I am your high school Social Studies teacher. In addition, I am (along with Mrs. Heistand) the 2012 class adviser. I also lead a student trip to Washington, D.C., every spring. Any high school student and parent is welcome to join us. Please inquire!

I am originally from Yakima, Washington. My daughter, Lark, and I moved to Kittitas County in 1999. I earned my BA in History from Central WA University in 2002. Five years later, Ifinished my Masters from CWU in Chinese History. Hen hao! In my free time, I love to read, cook, exercise, learn to play musical instruments, study history and politics, and spend time with my family. I also love to travel. I have been to China, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Mexico. Next stop? Italy!

I strive to build a strong classroom community. This involves close connections with my students and their parents. My door is always open. Please feel free to contact me at any given time for any questions, comments, or just to talk!

Mission Statement

This has always been my view - and goal - regarding education: You can be a good teacher because you know how to teach. You may be a good teacher because you know your subject. Both are very important. But you must love your subject and transfer this love to your kids. Excite your students, awaken their interests, and make them follow it up. Turn them into lifelong learners.
