About Scott  Wilson

I was raised in Kent, WA in a family of seven at a time when there were only two doctors in Kent. I graduated from Kent-Meridian High School in 1969 in a class of about 700 students. I attended WSU, CWSC, the U of W, and CWU where I collected undergraduate degrees in Political Science, Philosophy, and English. I have been married to Peggy for 33 years; we are hoping to break my grandparent's record of 74 years of marriage, but it isn't likely either of us will live that long. My teaching career began--and will end--in the community of Kittitas. I am currently retired from coaching, but I coached football for 22 years and basketball for 26 years...as near as I can recall. My interests include guitar, motorcycles (I currently ride a '91 Harley FXSTS), the Grateful Dead, all sports, reading, fishing, and gardening.

Mission Statement

There is a Zen proverb that states when the pupil is ready to learn, a teacher will appear. My philosophy of teaching holds that it is the job of the teacher to shed light and not to master. It is only through individual iniative that knowledge can be gained. The teacher is not the deliverer of information; the student is the discoverer of new ideas. A major goal of almost every high school course should be to develop skills and attitudes that will enable students to be successful in life after high school, regardless of the path they may choose.
